pro: Joyce-Lynn

Joyclyn Weiss is a native Minnesotan, lake lover, pie baker and artist. She currently works out of her home studio in Excelsior, Minnesota surrounded by family, a sweet black pug and the joys of everyday life. At age 8, her parents enrolled her in the summer art program at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts and her dream of becoming a “real artist” has not faded since.

Joyclyn finds inspiration in the familiar and often nostalgic scenes, objects from her present life as well as memories from the past. The colors and shapes come from intuition and that vision is translated through paint and brush movement that cannot otherwise be expressed with words. She works from photographs, sketches and memories to produce original work. Therefore, the palette is indicative of her inner world rather than literal translations of the physical. Through her work Joyclyn hopes to bring out an emotional response in the observer. Ideally, she hopes her work conveys the joy and possibilities of the everyday and the powerful physical beauty in the common natural elements around us.
